Reservations
are available for the 2008-09 fall/winter puppies., including 1st
generation Benin import breeding of Kuoabo + Honey to homes interested in

All the above have the most loving and fun temperarments. I have to
seriously cut back on the number of dogs here due to health matters, so
breeding and showing plans have drastically changed. These basenjis
would be welcome additions to any home and are lap dogs extraordinaire.
They are all also great lovers of a LOT of exercise outdoors.
--------------------------------------------------------
!!!
Rescues_ please do explore the BRAT website (basenji rescue and
transport) which has an up-to-date, state-by-state listing of basenjis
in need of a forever home.
***Please understand that you will need a fenced yard if you are
not already familiar with housing a basenji safely, and a house crate -
basenjis are not left loose & unattended when they cannot be
supervised! Like every canine, lots of safe chew toys, exercise,
and attention are required. Basenjis are VERY attached to their packs =
their people. They experience separation anxiety when separated. THIS
IS NORMAL. This is also why we crate them with chew toys when we have
to leave them. Outdoor kennels should be much longer than wide (our
shortest ones are 16ft x 6ft AND ARE COVERED!!!). Basenjis climb &
leap and put Marine drill instructors to shame - amateurs! They are the
super athletes of the canine world. The more exercise you can
indulge your basenji, the easier it is to live with!
Great
reference books: THE DOG'S MIND by Bruce Fogle; "The Basenji: Out
of Africa to You, A New Look" by Susan Coe; check out the websites for
The Evergreen Basenji Club & The Basenji Club of Southeastern
Wisconsin - both of them have books for at or under $10 written by
basenji people about living with basenjis!
