'Kulta'

We think this dark red, exotic looking young boy with his heavily mascara'd 'bedroom' eyes is a particularly valuable asset to our breeding program. He literally stopped the 2002 BCOA National Specialty judge in his tracks during the initial 'walk down the line' as Kulta turned his head (ála greatgrandmother Ch Calypso American Express) to gaze at the judge... his diamond wrinkles, dark-as-fudge eyes and that color...!! He screams basenji type if you care about heads at ALL! Kulta is an even blend of our old American stock, especially Ch Calypso American Gigolo, and our 1/2 Finnish boy (Kulta's own sire), B'Aatu.  The heavy mascara and deep, resonant red coat are all Rhett,as is his body. The shortened muzzle and eye placement, and slightly broadened skull come from B'Aatu. We look forward to blending him with several of our girls to produce typey basenjis with soft, affectionate temperaments who will be assets to not only the breed, but to their human families as well.          Kulta is exactly what I was hoping to archieve in the blending of the Bulldobas and Calypso bloodlines. He measures out Standard, 17 by 17 inches. He has filled out wonderfully, becoming an elegant male of substance.  His personality is a lovely combination of his sire and dam, both of whom are very sweet. In public, he tries to make friends with all people and dogs whom he encounters. Non-basenji dog people are surprised at his 'the whole world is my friend' attitude. We hope nothing ever happens to change his view!
