AKC # HM 42586307
OFA: BJ-270G24F
born Aug 25,1992, died Nov 27, 2006 (cancer)
owners: Glenda & Myrl Galdeen, MI
Tasha was one of my favorite Cruz daughters. Certainly she was the most gorgeous of the reds - her coat color and
chiseled outlines and unbelievably fabulous feet (!!!) made
her a standout in anyone's book.
Typical of Calypso basenjis, in the small shows, she
languished, seemingly ignored by the judges. Her novice
owner/handler plugged away, however, working diligently to
improve their performances. Finally, it reached the point
in their quest for the AKC title that Tasha needed only her
'majors' to finish.
Tasha was entered in the Chicago summer specialty, and her
owners and I conferred and decided to request that Vogue's
former handler be retained to show the bitch at the
specialty, and an all-breed handler I'd used successfully
for years be retained to handle Tash at the all-breed shows
immediately following the specialty which are traditionally
majors, as well. You'll see from the picture above how well
Erin and Tasha did at the Chicago specialty. Bill Martin
showed Tasha to her Winners Bitch awards at the all-breeds.
Needless to say, she finished her title quite handily. And
she finished her Canadian title in straight shows, as well.
She lived a wonderful
long life before succombing to cancer at age 14+, even making the trip
from Michigan to Rhode Island for the week of the BCOA 2006 Nat'l
Specialty show extravaganza. She didn't compete but she was in full
attendance. At that point she was completely incontinent, but her
devoted and indefatigable owners (Myrl & Glenda Galdeen) made sure
she was always comfy, clean, and treated like the queen she was born to
be. A typical Macho Man x Cruz daughter, she RULED. Truly it was a
privilege to have bred her and I know the Galdeens felt the exact same
way about sharing her life.
We have three Tasha daughters here at Calypso:
Glemyr Calypso Fantasia "Annie" (tri)
(sire: Ch Calypso American Gigolo)
Calypso Ode To Joy (tri)
(sire: Reveille Calypso Trapper)
Calypso Oshambe (red) "Ridley" who is nearly a
duplicate of her mother. She was in a pet home and came
home to us a number of years ago.
