born Dec 22,1988 - died March 28,2000 (viral infection)
Known always as 'Baby Boss' for
her petite build, Boss surprised me and surpassed all
expectations re: showing. I kept her only because my
husband-at-the-time insisted - she was his favorite.
Entered her in the Chicago Specialty one year just to
'support the show' and walked off with Winners Bitch from
the Bred By Exhibitor class after telling everyone she was
just "a pet". Then she turned around and won the Detroit
summer specialty 2 months later! Some kind of pet :)
Produced very inconsistently, as I expected, giving the
same situation with her own birth litter. Never knew how
pups were going to turn out, no matter how lovely they
looked as youngsters. Daughter CH Calypso Jewel Of The Nile also
won Winners Bitch at the Chicago Specialty. The sire was
Boss' maternal uncle, CH Calypso American Gigolo 'Rhett'.
Boss' champion sons from an earlier breeding to 'Rhett'
are CH Calypso Eyes Of Egypt and CH Calypso Evening Shade.
Boss was bred to the brindle half-African, Kibushi Get
Sirius 'Chris'. No brindles resulted. The daughter gained
her championship, Ch Calypso Reine de la Nil (Queen of the
Nile). Neither of the boys, though sold as show dogs, ended
up in the ring. One, 'Rocky', was too soft-tempered for the
ring, but is doing therapy work, so who would complain? Not
us! In the end, he is accomplishing the greater good!
