12 pts (including 1 major)
toward AKC championship
2.5 pts toward LGRA racing title
B'Aatu is a 1/8 African, bright chestnut boy with a
very sunny and outgoing personality. He is super-loving and
sees himself as Mama's baby. He requires only his 2nd 'major' to finish
his American title. However, he quits eating
(unless handfed) , during breeding season each year,
and so this removes him from being able to be shown for 1/2
the year until we can get him back in shape again !!!! This see-saw of
conditioning has delayed his appearances in the show rings.
B'Aatu brings a nice level topline, very powerful reach and
drive, and a gorgeous deep chest to the breeding table. He
has a powerful neck/shoulder assembly, and is altogether a
remarkable physical specimen. He gives every impression
that he can do a full day's work in the 'wherever',
tirelessly and efficiently. Even during the fall & winter
when he is Mr Skinny, he remains agile and active and
strong.

B'Aatu at LGRA event autumn'2004
In
the winter of 2004, B'Aatu was certified to race in LGRA events. So
far, he has raced with his daughter, Lila, his
stripey niece, Tyger, and a couple of our other dogs. He is certifed
for ASFA lure coursing
now as well. He dearly loves to run and chase, something he inherited
in
spades from his Bulldobas relatives, and is passing on to his own
progeny. We look forward to running B'Aatu for as long as he wants to
do so & is able, and if our show schedule permits. (***
you'll note in the one picture here, that B'Aatu's head is slightly
turned - he is looking away from the jackalure at some spectators. In
the next shot, you see his head forward again, back on business. For
B'Aatu The Ladies Man, however, any nearby female is his "business" -
'tuuba LOVES the women! *** The
photographer had noted that he was so startled as the basenji came by,
looking at him right through his lense, that he forgot to take the
picture - he snapped an instant later and caught B'Aatu looking at the
women standing just past him.
In 2003, B'Aatu tested low thyroid (free T4) and has been on
successful thyroid supplementation ever since. His hips are rated OFA
"Excellent" and his eyes are CERF'd. He is 1/8th African from the
Avongara import, "Gangura", through his grandsire, Kibushi Get Sirius.
